Radio shack 278-845   2.4ghz  5.5dbi antenna for dlink w/ reverse SMA connector.  I took that antenna and soldered it on my blitz radio shack usb 802.11b usb adapter

or the 278-844 which is the 2.4Ghz 5.5dbi w/ mini tnc connector (Link sys) http://www.jefatech.com/product/IN245RD

They come with 2 antenna's for $29 or $19 depending on whether they are discontinued.

also check seattlewireless.net they have great articles on antenna's.

Under the bed upstairs at richmond I have a shotgun antenna that's good for aiming at a access point/router.  It has N connector (The cable is behind the bed), all you need is a pigtail http://www.jefatech.com/category/cable_assemblies/

card -> pigtail -> cable -> antenna  http://www.jefatech.com/product/195RPSMANF24 (reverse SMA to female N)

card -> pigtail -> antenna http://www.jefatech.com/product/195RPSMANM72 (reverse SMA to male N)

You can hack off the RP-SMA connector and solder it to the adapter (card or usb adapter) itself if the adapter has a flip up antenna. or separate antenna (DLink DWL-122) http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=175

just bought a USB B adaptor for $25 at Fry’s- should have got one with a separate antenna. I’m thinking that a homemade antenna may help Lonnie & us get hacked broadband
